Wolverhampton: Defalcations of Jesse Varley, Wolverhampton Council Accountant

This evening’s talk is about an accountant, employed within the Education department of Wolverhampton Council, who defrauded the council.  What did he do, how did he do it and get away with it for so long?  Find out about Jesse Varley and how his crimes were discovered: this talk brings to life some of the archival material and documents detailing his downfall 100 years ago.
