This event, on November 18 at 1:00 pm in the BMI, is being hosted by the BMI as part of their regular Monday Lunchtime Talks.
From an early age, Bernie McLean was aware that his paternal grandfather, whom he never met, came from a faraway place. It wasn’t until he began to investigate his family history that he discovered just how remote and hard-to-survive this place was. What is more, he found that his grandfather’s grandparents had chosen to travel a great distance from another place that was also remote and hard-to-survive. This presentation follows a very long journey for his ancestors in the early 1800s and for himself in the 21st Century as he visited these two places. It is not just a sad story of life and death on the edge of civilisation; there is humour too and sometimes some sunshine. Come along for the ride!
Admission for non-BMI members is £5.00 .
