Wed 8th January 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm GMT

  • « New Years Day
  • London: Chisel and Cloud: Past and future of family history »

A talk by Paul Baker

Picture of an engine being delivered to work on completion of the new railway in Henley in 1894. The Engine was delivered to Bearley then driven under its own steam up the High Street with track laid in front as it went.

A new branch line opened from Lapworth via Rowington to Henley-in-Arden on 6th June 1894 taking the railway to Henley for the first time.

Paul Baker, a Rowington & Lapworth local history researcher, will be giving a talk about the amazing story of the construction of the branch line that took more than 30 years to build but ran for only 25 years.
