Birmingham: Organising and preserving your family history archive

Wed 3rd October 2018 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm BST

  • « Introduction to Family History Course
  • Stourbridge: Four Yorkshire Lassies and a Lad »

However you choose to store your family history items there are issues of best practice to be addressed. There has been a revolution in moving from hard copy to digital recording. The storage of digital records brings its own challenges if they are to be preserved in such a way as to provide long-term protection. Computer storage needs to be guarded from degradation, corruption and data loss.   Physical preservation of documents, photographs and artefacts also requires careful attention.  This evening will take the form of a question and discussion forum that will focus on members own experience.  We may not be able to provide all the answers but you will hopefully receive advice and pointers for your guidance. If you have particular questions or an experience to share please contact me with details (treasurer@bmsgh.org) as soon as possible. Offers of expertise will also be much appreciated.
