Oral History at The Hive

The Hive is jointly home to Worcester Records Office and The University of Worcester.

Maggie Tohill our speaker is an archivist with the Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service and is one of the Oral History Society’s regional networkers for the West Midlands area. Maggie will look at how family historians might use oral history recordings to provide a wider social context for the life and times of their ancestors, for example using recordings which cover events they have lived through, trades/occupations they have followed and places they have lived.

Maggie will deal with the pluses and minuses of using oral history in this way and suggest where members might look for suitable existing collections both locally and nationally.
