FreeMidland Ancestors – The First 60 Years
Presenter – Mike Sharpe
For our diamond anniversary lecture, Trustee and Professional Genealogist, Mike Sharpe looks back on the Society’s first sixty years. He tracks the Society’s growth from its formation on a wintery night in 1963, through the boom years of the 1970s and ‘80s; to the industrious projects of the 1990s and 2000s; and on into today’s digital era. On the way, he will revisit the key personalities – many no longer with us – who have helped shape the Society over the years. Mike will also look forward to what the next ten years might bring for family historians and how societies like ours can contribute.
Mike is Chair of the Societies Bromsgrove Group and author of the societies 50th Anniversary History. He is also a professional researcher, and has written a number of books on researching family history.
Taking place in the BMI, the Dickens Room on the first floor.

Annual General Meeting
Do not be put off by the AGM also being at the time of this meeting. At Midland Ancestors, the record time for the AGM is about 7 minutes. We try to better it each year.
It is hoped that this will be a Zoom Hybrid Meeting taking place in the Birmingham meeting Rooms and virtually.
To see more about how the business part of the afternoon will work – A link will appear Here soon.
