Birmingham: The Shickles of Bordesley and Albany, New York: Discovering a Family

Wed 4th July 2018 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm BST

  • « Wolverhampton: Henry V and Agincourt
  • London: »

The talk arose from research work following an email from the family in the USA, who wanted to visit a grave here. The speaker offered to do a tour for them, and after more than six months of research and emails, it all went ahead delightfully. The men who emigrated would certainly have encountered the Bordesley gangs, and the family were interested in any potential Peaky Blinders connection. What was found out was much more interesting than that.

Mike is closely associated with the Acock’s Green History Society and Heritage Trail (website aghs.jimdo.com ). He has also published photographic histories of Acocks Green, Hall Green, and Yardley.

Speaker: Michael Byrne
