London: “Home cine films for family historians.”
Sat 13th January 2024 @ 10:15 am - 12:00 pm GMT
“Home cine films for family historians.”
A talk by Tim Emblem-English
Tim joined the television recording department at the BBC in 1981 and he became a specialist in archive film transfer. Most of us are familiar with photographs and the part they play in family history research but what about home movies? Tim will start with their history in the 1920s/30s when small film formats allowed the man in the street and not just the well off to embrace this media. He will look at the different formats of cine film and will briefly mention video formats. He will touch on film archives in the UK and what part they might play in family history research.
Meetings will be held at Wesley’s Chapel and Leysian Mission, 49 City Road, London, EC1Y 1AU.
Doors open 9:45 (coffee, tea & biscuits, we have some recyclable cups, but if you can bring your own cup it would help). The talk starts at 10.15.
Non-members are very welcome.
