The West Midlands Police Museum: history and archives

Presenter – Corrine Brazier

Corinne is the Heritage Manager at West Midlands Police Museum, now located  at the former Central Custody Block, the Lock-Up, in Steelhouse Lane, Birmingham. Re-opening on 9 April 2022, two years had been spent refurbishing the museum which is spread across three floors. Items in the museum date back to the 1800s, demonstrating how the police force has evolved and developed over the last 200 years.  With over 4,000 items relating to policing history in the West Midlands, including officer records, some of the world’s oldest prisoner mug shots and their digitised personnel files, there is much of potential interest for family historians.

Taking place in the BMI, the John Peek Room on the first floor.
