The Staffordshire Enclosure Award Maps Project
Presenter – Richard Totty
Richard is Chairman Friends of Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Archives (FoSSA) which successfully applied for a grant from the Midland Ancestors’ Kemp Legacy Fund. Their proposal was to prepare digital images of Staffordshire Enclosure (or Inclosure) Award Maps.
The Enclosure Award Maps were drawn in response to individual Acts of Parliament for the enclosure of commons and wastes from 1770 to 1891. The main series of maps comprises those deposited with the Staffordshire Quarter Sessions.
This we will be an opportunity to learn about this project’s progress and how the resulting outcomes can be accessed for the benefit of our members and the general public.
