The Bicycle Industry of Wolverhampton – A talk by Vic Davies

A history of the bicycle industry in Wolverhampton – one of rise and fall.  From its earliest beginnings in the town in 1868 until the early 1970s, cycles were made in large quantities. There are known to have been over 200 cycle makers in the town between 1868 and 1975.  The industry flourished for nearly half a century, producing famous names like Marston, Sunbeam, Star, Wulfruna and Rudge.  Today there are no cycle makers left in Wolverhampton at all.
