A Yeoman Trooper with Lawrence of Arabia by Janet Byard Jones

Trooper Thorne, of the Warwickshire Yeomanry, was involved in the Gallipoli campaign in November/December 1915, when he set sail for Egypt. He became batman to Captain George Lloyd in January 1916 and spent the rest of the war in this position. Captain Lloyd was reporting to the Government on the Arab campaign and, later what T E Lawrence was doing in the Middle East.
Janet’s dad kept a diary of this time and took many photographs of people and places he visited.

Do please note that this meeting is not on the usual Tuesday evening but a Saturday afternoon.
