Kenilworth: ‘Matters of Life & Death: Letters from the men at the front in the 2nd Anglo-Boer War’ (LIVE)

Wed 11th September 2024 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm BST

  • « Birmingham: Peplow Memorial Lecture
  • Family History Surgery & Help Desk »

Speaker: Brian Stote

Brian’s great great grandmother sent food parcels and gifts to men from the Yorkshire town of Otley who were stationed in South Africa during the Boer War conflict of 1899-1902. Some of them sent letters to her, which were collected into a scrapbook, relating their experiences during battles, troop movements and daily life, and these have been distilled into a talk to give a picture of a sometimes forgotten war from those who were actually there.
