‘The extraordinary life of Captain Adam’

(A Story from Lye & Wollescote Cemetery)

Captain William Adam

Captain William Adam (1819-1893) was born in London on the 11th March 1919 and died in Stourbridge on the 26th December 1893. He. served in the 72nd and 48th Regiments of Foot. He was living at Wollescote House when he died, but previously had lived at Church House, Ashford Bowdler, near Ludlow. After retiring from the army he had become a gentleman farmer in Ireland. He was married at least twice. His mother was a Russian from St Petersburg. This is his fascinating story.

A talk by Jean Weston.
