WROXALL

Wroxall is about five miles north west of Warwick on the main road to Birmingham. The ruins of a Benedictine Priory or Nunnery are in the grounds of a Private School for Girls, as is the parish church. The present mansion is Victorian and replaces the Elizabethan house which, in 1713, was purchased by Sir Christopher Wren for his son. The church has many memorials to the Burgoyne, Wren and Dugdale families. Shortwood Common is within the parish.
