WORMLEIGHTON

This was a village which became deserted at the end of the fifteenth century. The present estate village dates from Victorian times and is owned by the Spencer family. The church was built in the twelfth century but has been much altered and restored. The village is situated about six miles south east of Southam; there were extensive sheep pastures in the area around. Another former deserted village, Stoneton, in Northamptonshire, was nearby.
