UPPER SHUCKBOROUGH

The village was deserted in mediaeval times. Shuckburgh Hall, a fine residence in a landscaped park, is not open to visitors. The church, with its many memorials to members of the Shuckburgh family, is nearby and dates from the twelfth century though much altered in the late nineteenth century. Squire Richard Shuckburgh, with his tenants, fought for Charles I at Edgehill and was knighted on the battlefield. The Hall is about five miles east of Southam.
