HALFORD

The Fosse Way (now the A429) runs through the village of Halford (sometimes called Halford Bridge) which is about four miles due north of Shipston-on-Stour and six miles south east of Stratford. The old pack horse bridge over the river Stour was once an important crossing, but there is now a new bridge. The manor house, built in a variety of styles, has been much admired. The Norman tympanum in the parish church has been described as the best example of Norman sculpture in the county.
