BIDFORD-ON-AVON

The village is four miles south east of Alcester. A fine fifteenth century bridge still carries the road to Evesham. There are a number of seventeenth century houses and the Falcon Inn dates from the sixteenth century. The church was built in 1250 but has been much restored. The hamlet of Broom specialised in basket making and knife grinding, the craftsmen travelling to local markets. Other hamlets are Barton and Marcliff.
