BARFORD

Barford is only three miles south west of Warwick and is now a popular residential area. A small cottage opposite the church was the birthplace of Joseph Arch who formed the National Agricultural Labourers' Union. He died there in 1919 at the age of 92, and the former Red Lion Inn has been re-named The Joseph Arch. From the bridge over the Avon can be seen Sherborne House; Barfield House, in Regency style, was built last century.
