If you are a member of Midland Ancestors and you need a pair of hands in a distant County Record Office, this is what you do :-
- 1. Find out the location of the document you need to have searched. This is very important, so that no one is sent on an unnecessary journey.
- 2. Ask the co-
ordinator for a LINK to that particular place :

Always enclose expenses and an SAE with your letter to your LINK and pose only ONE question at a time. Most LINKS will not have time to search an entire register.
- 3. Explain which document needs searching and include any relevant information you already have. Your LINK will make a visit on your behalf and report back within 6 weeks, or will tell you immediately that it can’t be done.
In order for this scheme to work we need lots of people volunteering to do the research, so if you feel you can spare a little time to help another member please send the name(s) of the archive(s) to which you have access, an estimate of your expenses and your name and address to
