What skulduggery can Mary mean ? \nJames Watt’s letter copying machine preserved the remarkable story\, in the words of all those involved\, of what happened in 1826 when the Soho Foundry’s chief cashier was caught with his fingers in the till. \nThe Soho Foundry was a factory created in 1795 by Matthew Boulton\, James Watt and their sons Matthew Robinson Boulton and James Watt junr. at Smethwick. It was built foe the manufacture of steam engines. Matthew Boulton and James Watt are known as the founding fathers of the Industrial Revolution – industrial giants of Birmingham. \nMary Bodfish is a well known local historian and writer.
