Birmingham: The Quarter Sessions: A resource for family historians
2nd November @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm
The Quarter Sessions: A resource for family historians.
The Quarter Sessions was a major legal and Civic institution in England and Wales from mediaeval times through to the late 20th century. It had a wide range of responsibilities from hearing civil & minor criminal cases to issuing licences and permits and overseeing various forms of local administration. Professional genealogist, writer, publisher and member of Midland Ancestors Mike Sharpe will look at the QS origins, what they did and how to find and access this oft overlooked resource for family historians.
Do please note that this meeting is not on the usual Wednesday evening but a Saturday afternoon
